Actor Anupam Kher launched the young author Anushka debut book in Kashmiri Pandits titled ‘NH44: Bring me home’ at an event in Mumbai on July 6.
NH44 is a route taken by migrants while leaving Kashmir Valley during their output about 30 years ago.
Through this book, Dhar aims to find the lineage of his Kashmir Pandit while tracing his journey back to his roots, and reasons that cause exodus.
The book was launched by Kher with Ashoke Pandit, president-film association & television directors and writers.
Commenting on the book, Anupam Kher said, “I led Anushka for his enthusiasm and courage to question some serious historical events in front of this book.
History is not good to us Pandit Kashmir and our ancestors live to tell stories.
It meets me with hope that Anushka and many young people like that are now questioning history and rally for justice.
There is no second thought given in writing the introduction to ‘take me home’ and I truly believe he has got the ability to inspire people and with this book, He must have brought us all home.

When we asked Dhar, 16, about the challenge of writing this book, he said, “My challenge is to make people understand the story of the Kashmir Pandits because many of us tend to ignore it.
We have a respecting type of trauma.
Those people have gone through.
Gravity of the problem that is generally not understood by a person is a challenge for me.
There are also researches that enter into writing this book, because there are so many sources that say different things.
I want to catch a Kashmir Pandit perspective and find the right source and Accurately conveying a Kashmir Pandit perspective is another challenge.
”
Meanwhile, Ashoke Pandit praised the author of his debut book with sensitive topics.
He said, “It was extraordinary for him to write a book about the genocide that occurred in Kashmir even though he hadn’t been part of him.
Such stories would take us all together to work towards a better future for Kashmiris.”
