New Delhi: “We see hope in you and not just a medal,” said Minister of Sports Union Anurag while maintaining the winner of the Indian Athletics Championship Medal on Wednesday.
India bagged two silver medals, through Jumper Long Shaili Singh and 10,0000m Racing Walker Amit Khatri, and a bronze medal through a 4x400m relay team with a mixture of Sridhar, Pliya Mohan, Summuy and Kapil in Nairobi.

He then said that there would be several initiatives taken by the government to help maintain sports culture in India.
“You (Junior athletes) are inspiration for other sportsmen in this country,” he said.
“You have done a great job of making us losing even at a difficult time this pandemic, your trip has been amazing and I assure you that there is no compromise that will be made in helping you on your sports journey,” he said.

Thakur also said that he was happy to know that the former champion became a coach and this was a good sign for sports welfare.
Also present was the World Long Jump Medal Championship Medal Bobby George, Head of Coach (Junior) Kamal Ali Khan and other officials from the Ministry, Indian Athletics Federation and Indian Authority Sports.
The 17-year-old Shaili coach, Robert Bobby George, who attended his function, said that to promote Indian sports culture needs to work to change the attitude of parents.
He said that parents need to make an integral sport from their ward curriculum.
