The former 46-year-old cricket council president was given an accusation of sports along with information and broadcast broadcasting after he took an oath as a minister of cabinet.

Thakur is among the six ministers who have been promoted to the cabinet rank.
Rijiju, Hardeep Singh Puri, Parshottam Rupala, G Kishan Reddy, Mansukh Mandaviya is another man-promoted.
Rijiju was appointed as Minister of State for Sports in May 2019, replacing the silver medalist Olympics Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore.
Along with independent charges of sports and adolescents, Rijiju also served as Minister of State for minority affairs before being given charges while the Ayush Ministry.
