Kolkata: The fire broke out in the place of Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd (HPL) near Kolkata on Tuesday afternoon, when the factory was undergoing maintenance.
No one was injured in the incident, a police officer said.
The sources in Haldia said the fire broke out when the Naphtha tank was being cleaned as part of maintenance work, and some chemicals spilled.
Fire tender from the nearest MCPI factory joined the HPL team to catch fire, they said.
Both HPL and MCPI are owned by Purnendu Chatterjee from the TCG group.
Last September, nearly 15 people were injured when a fire broke out at the Naphtha Cracker HPL facility.
