At its WorldWide Developer Conference 2021, Apple has announced a new software update for the iPad.
The company has launched the iPadOS 15 today at the event where the company showcased all the new features that the Apple iPad users will soon get.
iPadOS 15 comes with a customisable home screen and flexibility in terms of the placement of widgets.
Apple has also made available the App Library from iOS 14 to iPad.
Just like the iPhone, iPad users will be able to have a clutter-free Home Screen.
Another highlight of the iPadOS 15 is improvements in terms of multitasking, which will allow iPad users to switch between full screen, Split View, and Slide Over with the help of new icons.
Apple is also adding a new “shelf” feature that will give iPad users access to all open windows for any given app.
In addition to the multitasking features of iPad is support for new keyboard shortcuts.
In the Notes app, iPad users will be able to mention people and that will send them a notification.
Apple is also adding a new Quick Notes feature that will allow iPad users to create notes from any app.
With the iPadOS, Apple is adding SharePlay support on FaceTime.
This will enable Apple users to listen to songs together with Apple Music, watch shows or movies in sync, or share screens to view apps together.
While in SharePlay, anyone can play, pause, or jump ahead.
Apple is also enhancing the Safari app with enhancement such as a new tab design that takes on the colour of the webpage and combines tabs, the toolbar, and the search field into a single, compact design.
The app also comes with Tab Groups which saves and manages tabs.
The iPadOS 15 also brings in a Translate app that comes to the iPad.
The developer beta of iPadOS 15 is available to Apple Developer Program members at developer.apple.com now.
A public beta will be available for iPadOS users next month at beta.apple.com.
The iPadOS 15 will be rolled out to users of iPad mini 4 and later, iPad Air 2 and later, iPad 5th generation and later, and all iPad Pro models.
