New Delhi: Apple Inc.
delayed back to the company’s office from October to January earlier because it jumped Covid-19 cases and new variants, according to the memo sent to employees on Thursday.
The company told the staff to confirm the re-opening line of one month before the employee was required to return to the office.
Apple previously aimed to ask all staff back to the company office in early September before postponing it until October.
When employees are required to return, they will be expected to work in the office at least three days a week – Monday, Tuesday and Thursday – with remote work on Wednesday and Friday available.
Memo to staff, sent by Human Resources and Retail Head Deirdre O’Brien, added that the company currently does not expect to close the office or retail store.
But he really encouraged staff to be vaccinated.
The company does not require vaccination or testing, even though it raises its testing program to three Coronavirus tests per week.
An Apple spokesman refused to comment on the memo.
The iPhone maker in July was one of the first US technology giants to delay plans to return to normality because the Covid-19 variant and very transmitting began to spread during the summer.
Now, the emergence of Delta variants around the world force repeated thinking among the largest companies in America, even when the infection rate is still about a quarter of what they do at its peak.
After dropping the requirements of the mask in June, Apple restored the policy last month.
The company also provides plans to boot classes in stores after less than a day.
Previously on Thursday, Apple closed retail stores in South Carolina after more than 20 employees were tested positively or exposed to Covid-19.
The company has also reduced operating hours in several retail locations because, in part, missing employees worked because of the virus.
Apple is the latest company to postpone its office up to 2022, following Lyft Inc., Amazon.com Inc.
and Facebook Inc., among others.
The return of January 2022 will mean that Apple employees will leave almost two years without being asked to enter the company’s place, from the start of the surge in the virus in the US in March 2020.
Apple recently launched a program to let some retail staff work from home by helping people online .
The physical store will play an important role in the coming months because the company launched a new iPad, iPhone, apples, airpod and Mac watches.
