Earlier this year, Spyware Pegasus was in news because it was revealed that some governments had used this tool to target activists, journalists, and even their own officials.
Apple is now suing the NSO group – a company based in Israel behind Pegasus – to prevent further abuse and endanger its users.
In a press release issued by the company, Apple said that he also looked for permanent orders to ban NSO groups from using software, services, or Apple devices.
Apple said that the NSO group created a sophisticated state-sponsored supervision technology that allows spyware that is highly targeted to monitor victims.
Pegasus victims like spyware are Android users and iPhone.
How does the NSO group use Pegasus? Called the PACUS, the exploitation of the NSO Group for vulnerabilities that are now patched previously used to enter the victim’s Apple device and install the latest version of the Spyware NSO Group product, Pegasus.
Apple explained that to deliver spyware, the attacker made an Apple ID to send malicious data to the victim’s device – allowing NSO Group or his client to send and install Pegasus Spyware without the victim’s knowledge.
Although it is misused to deliver the commercials, Apple servers are not hacked or compromised in the attack, claiming the company.
Craig Federighi, Senior Apple Vice President of the software engineering said that state-sponsored actors such as the NSO group spent millions of dollars on advanced supervision technology without effective accountability.
“What needs to be changed,” Federeghi, before adding, “Apple devices are the safest consumer hardware on the market – but private companies that develop sponsored sponsored countries become more dangerous.” He further said that this cybersecurity threat only had an impact on a small number of Apple customers, any attack on the user very seriously.
“We continue to strive to strengthen security and privacy protection in iOS to keep all our users safe,” he added.
In a lawsuit filed, Apple was called the famous NSO Group Hacker and “Amoral 21st century Mercenaries which have created a very sophisticated cyber-surveillance engine that invites routine and striking abuse.
They design, develop, sell, send, spread, operate, and Maintaining offensive malware and damaging spyware products and services that have been used to target, attack, and endanger Apple, Apple, and Apple users.
“Apple further argues in the lawsuit that NSO products are not ordinary consumer malware.
“NSO is not interested in serving annoying pop-up advertisements or even cheating your bank to suck money from your current account account.
NSO products are far more dangerous and often very sophisticated.
They allow attacks, including from the sovereignty government to pay hundreds of millions of dollars to target and attack a small portion of users with interesting information for NSO customers.
