In a step that will make a revolutionary design statement, Apple has received a patent for all-glass devices approved by USPTO (Patent and the United States trademark office).
The All-Glass device, which can be an iPhone, has been referred to as a “electronic device with a glass cage” by the company and because the entire body is made of transparent glass, the six flat surfaces on the body can be used as display.
Patent was submitted on August 15, 2019.
This is not the first time the technology giant has used a glass concept for the device and has done it for the past eight years, according to apples.
The iPhone All-Glass is the next, with a display that might also wrap the side, thus expanding the screen area for a smooth display.
Apple has also explained how it plans to assemble and dismantle the phone.
This can be facilitated by “hats” at the top or under the device where the component can slide out.
“Electronic devices include six-sided glass cages that define interior volume and consist of members of the first glass and members of the second glass.
The first glass member defines at least part of the first side of the side glass cage, at least part of the side of the six-sided glass shower, the first area along the peripheral side and have the first thickness, and the second area along the peripheral side and has a second thickness different from the first thickness.
Second glass members are attached to the first glass members and defines at least part of the second main side of the side glass cage.
“Abstract said patent.
But is the device worth commercially and practically? It has glass around and only glass.
When even scratches on the screen means a nightmare for iPhone users, imagine dropping all-glass phones somewhere because it is remember that the body of the glass will be slippery even with the guarantee of Gorilla Glass Corning protection.
The device can survive but may not keep scratches.
Sheer terror pays that much extra when you have paid so much.
Also, only having a glass in the body means a heavier iPhone.
People don’t want their iPhone (or in this case, any smartphone) feels like a brick slab.
We honestly have serious doubts about the device that will make it to the market unless Apple plans to start some surprises about it alone known.
