Apple was reported to try to win two top executives for Google search – Ben Gomes and John Giannandrea – responsible for introducing AI features.
While Apple managed to employ Giannandrea, who now took care of the Siri AI and Apple unit, a report by Bloomberg claimed that Apple was unsuccessful in its efforts to rent Gomes.
This information becomes a public from the document submitted by the Ministry of Justice in the antitrust lawsuit against Google.
Interestingly, the documents did not mention when Apple tried to rent Gomes.
According to the report by Bloomberg, “Subpoena demanded all documents starting on January 1, 2010, concerning efforts to recruit employees from Google, Microsoft Corp.
Bing, Yahoo! Inc.
and DuckduckGo” with expertise or experience in internet search services or search for advertisements, including: John Giannandrea and Ben Gomes.
“Gomes joined Google in 1999 and became one of the main engineers in the Google search division.
While Apple does not have a search engine like Google, Apple’s efforts to hire Gomes show that Apple might have a plan to take Google search.
After saying That, Apple does provide a search service when people use Siri.
The next report was added, “While the lawsuit of the Ministry of Justice centered on Google, Apple has been linked to this case.
The department accused the rivals as working as “one company” in their search partnership.
