Chennai: Madras High Court has directed the Director General of Police (DGP) to request action under the Law Goonda in the case of ‘extreme’ encroachment / illegal deprivation of Tamil Nadu.
Justice S M Subramaniam has also directed the Department of Religious Endowments and Hindu Charity (HR and CE) to form a ‘special cell’ which consists of a team of officials with integrity for monitoring measures that began to take temple properties, funds and jewelry properties.
The court further directed the state to influence publications in connection with all temples throughout the state in the newspaper, called for illegal deprivation / residents to submit ownership of all these proper properties in the specified period.
“Failure, decisive action is directed at being initiated against all illegal seizures / residents under the relevant legal provisions,” said the judge.
The court passed the order on the request that was transferred by N C Sridhar, the Head of the Chief of Love Sri AudikeSava Perumal Devaswar Devasthanam Temple, Mylapore challenged his suspension of trust through the August 6 command issued by HR and CE.
Opposing the request, the department argued that the applicant was suspended only to enable transparent investigations into allegations of irregularities in managing temples and its properties.
Indicates that the state has started actions against all complaints about these irregularities, advocates as far as around 1,28,563 hectares of land.
“The Committee has examined 15,256 properties and has identified 20,776 encroachment.
The action has begun to 8,188 of the mining which covered the extent of 4,118 hectares of land.
The actions will be taken to 10,930 mines that cover a total of 3,526 hectares of land,” a report submitted by AG.
Record submission, the court canceled the suspension order issued to the applicant but refused to interfere in the memo of the accusation issued on it.
This is separate, the court directed the department to appoint an investigation officer, not under the rank of commissioner with HR immediately to conduct an investigation.
All temple supervisors are also directed at working with the authorities for quick investigations.
