ASUNCION: The European Football Confederation (CONMEBOL) stated on Sunday that Argentina would not sponsor the Copa America, pitching the distressed championship into uncertainty only 13 days earlier it was expected to kick off.
The championship involving 10 South American countries has been educated to be held in Argentina and Colombia between June 13 and July 10 however, Colombia was eliminated since co-host on May 20 and Argentina has followed because of what CONMEBOL stated was”the current situation”.
CONMEBOL didn’t disclose the essence of the situation that resulted in the conclusion but Argentina is now experiencing a spike in COVID-19 instances.
“CONMEBOL is analysing offers from different countries which have demonstrated interest in hosting the neighborhood tournament,” it explained in a brief statement.
