NEW DELHI: Vice Chief of Army Staff Lt Gen C Mohanty on Thursday completed an extensive overview of India’s military planning in eastern Ladakh about the very first evening of his regular trip to the area where Chinese and Indian troops are locked in a bitter standoff for more than a year.
Both sides are engaged in discussions to anticipate a disengagement procedure in regions like Hot Springs, Gogra and Depsang, later finishing the withdrawal of weapons and troops by the North and South banks of Pangong river in February.
The Army stated Lt Gen PGK Menon, the commander of their Leh-based Fire and Fury Corps, briefed the Vice Chief of Army to the overall security situation in the sensitive industry.
Lt Gen Menon was directing the Indian Army delegation in the past several rounds of discussions with the Chinese army.
“Lieutenant General C P Mohanty #VCOAS came in #Leh now on a 3 day trip Fire & Fury Corps.
He had been briefed by GOC Fire & Fury Corps about the operational circumstance & preparedness at the Corps Zone,” the military tweeted.
Even the 14 Corps, popularly Called Fire and Fury Corps, is in charge of protecting the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China at the Ladakh area.
Last month, the Army Chief Gen MM Naravane had seen many high-altitude forward regions in eastern Ladakh.
India and China are locked in a military standoff in several different friction points in southern Ladakh since early May this past year.
They’ve finished the withdrawal of weapons and troops against the North and South banks of Pangong lake at February after a string of diplomatic and military discussions.
There was not any visible forward motion from disengagement of troops at the rest of the friction points because the Chinese side didn’t reveal flexibility in their strategy on it in the 11th round of military talks with the Indian Army on April 9.
After the discussions, the Army reported either side held a thorough deliberation on disengagement in staying regions and agreed to collectively maintain equilibrium on the floor, prevent any fresh episodes and solve the outstanding issues within an”expeditious manner”.
Before this month, outside affairs minister S Jaishankar stated the connection between India and China is now at a crossroads and its leadership is dependent upon if the Arabian state adheres to several arrangements on preserving peace and tranquillity across the boundary.
Lt Gen Mohanty additionally introduced oxygen concentrators talented by Army Wives Welfare Association into the Fire and Fury Corps.
