Pune: A total of 10.48 Lakh residents are due to the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine in the district on November 9, the latest report from the State Health Department revealed.
These people have surpassed the necessary intervals between the first and second shots and must take advantage of the second dose as early as possible for wider and long-lasting immunity, officials emphasize.
The total district population is 1.17 crores.
From this, a total of 83.42 lakh were above 18 years and qualified to get a vaccine.
From them, 78.68 lakh had received the first dose.
Among them (who received the first dose), 43.33 Lakh sinned residents so far.
“Of the 10.48 lakh due to the second dose, 9.47 lakh will mature for the second dose of covishield and 1,00,953 caused by the second dose of Covaxin.
This citizen has completed a loophole of 84 days (for covishield) and 28 days (for Covaxin) from the first dose on November 9.
They must get the earliest second dose, “said Sanjay Deshmukh, Deputy Director, Health Services.
“After the first priming dose, immunity is stimulated.
But over time, it’s a contract.
At this time, the second dose increases the breadth of the immune response and ensures the same durability,” said the expert of Sanjay Pujari’s infectious disease, a member of the National Covid Task Force.
In Covid-19, research consistently shows a lower efficacy of vaccines after the first dose compared to the efficacy after the second dose.
Report of the Ministry of Health the latest revealed 70 lakh people have not taken their second jab.
