Arrange Drainage to End Water Tribulation, Salem Residents Tell Officials

Salem: Residents of Sai Baba Avenue in the Cannankurichi Panchayat city here on Sunday urged the district government to overcome waterlogging problems in their area by preparing a drainage system.
There are 96 families in the area.
Residents said they found it difficult to step out of their homes as rainwater mixed with stagnant waste in the area.
Moving to Toi, K Chandra Gounder, President, Sai Baba Avenue Association of residents’ welfare, said the situation was the same for the past two decades.
“Initially, the plot was not approved by the government and therefore the city of Kannankurichi Panchayat had not yet established a drainage channel in our area.
However, we have obtained approval from the relevant departments while building a house.” The population said they faced various health problems because of stagnation of wastewater.
“The entire area of ​​the smell and has become a breeding place for mosquitoes,” said P Chinnasamy, Secretary of the Citizen Welfare Association.
He said two residents had tested the positive dengue fever in their recent area and they received care at a private hospital.
While residents have taken problems with Pancayat City officials, there is no response from them so far.
Residents also urge officials to install street lights in the area to prevent anti-social elements using locality to consume liquor and gambling at night.
