Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court on Friday struggled Satalacasana Pancayat’s selection and was ordered to hold a new election in four weeks after a Panchayat member from the Congress Party was arrested a few minutes in front of the poll after registration of FIR in eight years old case.
Justice J B Pardiwala and Justice V D Navisati annoyed with the arrest of Panchayat members Vasantbhai Joshi on March 17 from outside the Panchayat building, where he went to vote.
Congress has eight members and BJP has a power of seven and there is one independent member at Taluka Panchayat.
FIR was submitted by the former Cooperative Milk Chair on March 16 because the alleged funds by Joshi in 2012.
Because Joshi could not give His voice, BJP won the election.
HC said that this was a dirty abuse of power.
In this case, the High Court said, “Today, if we close your eyes to what has been brought to our notification, tomorrow, the same can be repeated with impunity.
