Arsenal defender William Saliba was set for a third loan spell after Ligue 1 Olympique de Marseille signed it for the 2021-22 season, said the Premier League club on Thursday.
Saliba, signed in 2019 from St Etienne at a cost reported by around 27 million pounds ($ 37 million), had not played for the senior team.
As part of the agreement, he returned to St Etienne for the season with a temporary loan he also had a six-month loan spell with last season.
“Together with William, we have decided it would be good for its sustainable development to spend another season with a loan,” Arsenal’s technical director said in a statement.
“William joined us as an 18-year-old child, and he was still only 20, so he was still developing all the time.”
