SRINAGAR: The government on Thursday approved the appointment of Financial Commissioner, Finance, Dr.
Arun Kumar Mehta as J&K’s new secretary.
The Union Home Ministry has accepted the appointment of Mehta, an IAS officer of 1988 heap, since J&K’s new leader secretary following BVR Subrahmanyam has been moved into New Delhi and submitted as officer on special duty (OSD) at Union Commerce Ministry.
Subrahmanyam will take more than Union Commerce Secretary on June 30, based on some home ministry arrangement.
Even a non-controversial IAS officer, Mehta has held key positions in Jammu & Kashmir and in New Delhi through his 33-year bureaucratic profession.
He’s held key subject postings in J&K such as deputy commissioner Baramulla, additional deputy commissioner Jammu and sub- divisional magistrate Basholi.
He served as deputy commissioner of Baramulla involving May 19, 1994 to April 19, 1997 when militancy was at its summit in J&K.
He additionally functioned as electricity secretary of Jammu and Kashmir before moving onto central deputation.
He functioned as additional secretary at the Union ministry of surroundings, forests and climate change.
After arriving to J&K at 2018, Mehta helmed that the Finance division and required many attempts to fast-track the creation procedure and bring integrity and accountability in government.
Back in April 2020,” Mehta has been empaneled as secretary to the government of India.
