Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim was excluded from the WB project to improve the power system

Guwahati: The Union budget once again excludes two northeastern countries Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim which borders China from the World Bank funded project to improve the power system in the northeast.
According to the explanation of the budget document, “this project is to increase the power system in six countries Ner Viz.
Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and Nagaland.
It is funded by the World Bank.
Intra-Country Transmission & Distribution Project for Sikkim & Arunachal Pradesh has been separated for implementation through budget support from the Indian government considering these countries have sensitive borders.
“Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman, in its budget for 2022-23, has proposed the allocation of Hospital 371 Crore as a component of the program, RS 273 Crore as an EAP component throughout the East The sea and 1,700 crore Rs as budget support to strengthen the transmission system in Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim.
The segregation of projects assisted externally in the two border states has its roots since 2009 when China objected to irrigation projects in Arunachal planned by the Asian Development Bank of $ 60 million.
This project was then removed.
