As Covid Case Dip, NMC Going Easy On Citizens Sans Mask

Nagpur: By swimming in the Coronavirus case, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation initiative to enforce the appropriate behavior of Covid has taken the back seat.
Data obtained from citizenship bodies revealed that cases punish residents hanging out without masks began to decline from May 2021.
In despicable acts of carelessness, a large number of people can be seen moving in public without wearing a face mask.
However, NMC civilian police have sentenced 15 to 30 at an average of one day.
Data from June 2020 to October 2021 revealed that the highest number of people without masks was punished in October 2020 when disruption detection troops (NDS) had recovered RS34.40 lakh a fine of 6,880 residents.
The least number of people – 143 – punished in August 2020.
In the last 17 months, Nagpurians have cumulatively pay RS1.89 Crore as fine to roam in public places without wearing masks.
Civil police in the field said they faced resistance from residents after arresting them without a mask.
“Most residents showed their double vaccination certificate, when caught,” said NDS team members.
Not only this, even selected representatives have begun to disturb NDS actions against Covid protocol violators, they said.
TOI visited many public places including the market, train station, Ganeshpeth bus depot, City bus depot Mor Bhavan and found little or not appreciating the Covid-19 protocol.
With Covid Curbs subside and rise, the market has a busy buyer remembering the Diwali festival.
And not only buyers, but even their shop owners and employees are found without a mask.
“Even though infectivity has fallen, the pandemic is not over.
The case is still reported.
We must be careful for a few more days.
Prevention measures such as masks, hand hygiene and physical distance must.
Many people stop wearing masks.
It’s risky.
Masks are useful in many things , especially during Diwali.
You can protect yourself from some infections, and pollution too, “said Dr.
Ravindra Sarnik, a member of the Covid-19 District Nagpur assignment unit.
In this calendar year, initially civilian police have sentenced around 125 daily residents because they did not wear a mask.
In January, 3,920 was fined residents (RS19.60 Lakh well recovered), February (4,241 punished and RS21.20 Lakh recovered).
The data of the two Covid-19 cases and the people fined because they did not wear masks began to be destroyed from July.
Covid cases reported in the district were 2,833, while the NDS had sentenced 792 residents because violations of masks must rule.
In October 2021, NDS arrested 897 residents without a mask.
Since then, cases of punishing residents without masks have never crossed 1,000 a month.
In May, 408 residents were punished, while 465 in June.
Deputy Commissioner of Kota Rajesh Bhagat acknowledged that civilian police would be slow in punishing citizens who violated Covid-19 guidelines.
“I will ask the NDS team to intensify the drive against Covid-19 protocol violators,” he said.
