WASHINGTON: The Greek decision to hold a new US military base can attract Athens into a big war, maybe avoid, the former senior advisor of the Pentagon Douglas MacGregor told Sputnik.
The United States and Greece on Thursday signed an amendment to their reciprocal defense agreement which allowed US forces to practice and operate from additional locations in the country.
“Is Athena liking it or not, Athena can be pulled into the conflict which if it doesn’t prefer to avoid precisely because we are present in this country,” Macgregor said, retired said.
