As Odisha Braces for Cyclone Gulab, CM Naveen Patnaik asked officials to walk extra to save every life

Bhubaneswar: emphasizing the ‘zero victim’ remembering the next sobbestone and heavy rainfall in coastal bags and interiors, the Minister of Naveen Chair Patnaik on Sunday asked officials “walking extra to ensure to save every life.” Naveen, who was in New Delhi on an official visit, took the stock of state readiness during a meeting through video conferencing attended by senior officials and collectors of 11 districts.
Based on past experience handling several cyclones, Naveen emphasized on the shift of people from Kutcha’s house, houses in low-lying areas and flood-prone villages with a special focus on pregnant women, elderly and children.
“Special emphasis must be given to landslide and evacuation areas to be carried out on Sunday afternoon.
Good drinking water and other basic settings must be made in all shelter places,” said Minister of Chief.
Given the situation of school situations and other educational institutions will remain closed tomorrow in 11 districts that are affected while the collectors will make decisions about the opening of the school and further education institutions based on local conditions, the ministerial head.
Because some North Coast regencies have witnessed the increase in the number of Covid cases in North Regency after Typhoon Yaas, the minister’s chairman stressed in people who were sensitive to Covid behavior right at the cyclone shelter by emphasizing masks.
“I sincerely appealed to people in the affected districts to work together with the administration in shifts and also to wear masks and follow appropriate behaviors for Covid,” appealed the minister of chairman.
Given the predictions of heavy rainfall in South Odisha in the next two days, which can create situations such as floods in the state, Naveen asks to continue watching in embankments and especially the cities of Aska, Gudari, Gunupur, and all other village villages .
Naveen also requested to make prior arrangements for road permits, electricity recovery and water supply and to mobilize staff and officers all departments for early restoration.
Similarly, emphasis is also given to creating awareness through Miking and involving Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members, self-help groups, NGOs and volunteers in managing shelter.
While the 24 Force Response National Disaster (NDRF), 42 Odisha Disaster Fast Action Force (Odraf) and 103 Fires Teams have been mobilized in various districts, Naveen said to sue them in strategic points for better response and rescue.
The minister’s chairman asks the collectors to monitor the situation carefully and to contact the Special Assistance Commissioner (SRC) in terms of any requirements.
