Hyderabad: With the current level of covid-19 infection, only 0.42%, the health authority in Telangana has decided to reduce the bed intended for coronavirus patients.
Beds will be derived in each teaching hospital up to 200, with routine maintenance services to get priority.
There are 55,442 beds available in the state, including government and private hospitals.
But only 1,424 beds remained occupied (including a common bed, oxygen and ICU) and 54,018 beds were not inhabited and not used.
Most patients (594) are being treated in oxygen beds.
Now, Gandhi Hospital in Secunderabad has the most covid-19 (55) patient while the Mahbubnagar government hospital has around 40 patients.
About 35 people were also treated at Mahatma Gandhi Hospital in the Urban District of Warangal.
Only King of Raja Koti and Times Hospital which has more than 10 patients and administration has decided to restore routine maintenance services and reduce Covid-19 beds in two hospitals.
The Ministry of Health has agreed to improve routine services at the district and mandal hospital hospitals while gradually reducing the number of covid-19 nodal centers and special beds in each institution.
The decision was made after it was found that an average of 40,000 Covid-19 tests were being carried out every day, but no more than 200 positive tests.
“Employees and facilities will be transferred more towards routine services, because we do not expect a large surge.
But if someone happens, we will soon increase the capacity of the bed,” said an official.
The current emphasis is on Covid-19 immunization and officials have been ordered to take steps to meet the target at the end of the month.
