LONDON: World number one Ash Barty Kinclass Cancatriot Ajla Tomljanovic 6-1, 6-3 to reach the Wimbledon semi-final on Friday and established a meeting with the 2018 Angelique Kerber champion.
In the quarter-finals of the first Australian women’s grand slam since the 1980 Wimbledon championship, the 25-year-old Barty produced a quiet and arranged look in the central court.
Tomljanovic, who struggled through the British Wildcard Emma Raducanu the previous night to reach its first quarter-final grand slam, there was no place to see the first set of one side.
But the 28-year-old child made it more suitable than that in the second, breaking Barty serving twice.
Barty always has another level and ends Tomljanovic’s resistance a little more than an hour.
