Bhubaneswar: Door-to-door survey by Ashas and Anganwadi workers helped the government detect Covid 1.15 lakh cases which surprised in less than two months.
This, health authority, said they were a lot in preventing infection, especially in villages.
The government has traced more than 49,000 Ashas and 70,000 Angganwadis from May 24 and so on to track people with alleged symptoms of covid and facilitate initial testing.
“In the process, many people with symptoms are encouraged to undergo tests that help early detection, isolation and treatment,” said Secretary of Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra.
He added that the workers of Anganwadi visited the house several times, saving active supervision and helped continuously monitoring the possibility of Spurt in the case.
Grassroots workers contribute a lot to contain infections, especially in rural areas.
When in mid-May it was noted that villages reported more than 50% of positive cases, the government had made a plan to ensure that all with alleged symptoms were tested and those found positively isolated with the help of Angwanwadi workers.
Left to advance voluntarily, many will not undergo a test at all.
During the first month of the campaign from May 24 to June 23, Ashas and Anganwadi workers visited more than 94.5 lakh households (99.60% of the total) twice.
They also helped identify more than 75,000 people with co-morbid conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, TB, kidney disease and cancer, so that people’s treatment with chronic diseases was not disturbed during a pandemic.
Chairman of the Minister of Naveen Patnaik on May 18 announced a door survey to the three-month door by Ashas and Anganwadi workers from May 24 to find out the cases suspected, Supriya, a worker of Angganwandi in Block Bargarh, said he had visited at least 20 houses every day since May 24.
“In addition to asking people about fever, we monitor the level of oxygen in the blood randomly,” he said.
The government has promised to pay an extra incentive of RS 1,000 per month to Ashas for a three-month drive and RS 10,000 help one time to buy bicycles, cabinets, sandals, umbrellas and torch because they monitor the case of house isolation.
The government has also paid Rs 10,000 per Gaon Kalyan Samitis (village level committees) to carry out covid related activities.
This will cost the state fee of Rs 46 Crore because there are 46106 GKS.
