BHUBANESWAR: Day visits to Jagannath temple at Puri would shortly turn into a visual pleasure for devotees using all the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) choosing to establish a facade lighting project from the 12th century shrine.

“We shall start with the LED lighting project at Jagannath temple and also then cover the Sun Temple in Konark and Rajarani Temple at Bhubaneswar.
The Puri temple light project is very likely to be finished in two weeks,” ASI’s superintending archaeologist (Bhubaneswar circle) Arun Malik explained.
The planned illumination of the principal temple, that is 214 ft and 8 inch , in the surface to the base would be observable to devotees in a very long distance.
The shrine’s outer wall Meghanada Prachira (665ft x 640ft) and internal wall mounted Kurma Prachira (420ft x 315 feet ) also will be beautified using all the LED lighting.
Anyway, the lights will be set up in the four entrances–Singha Dwara (east coast ), Vyaghra Dwara (west coast ), Hasti Dwara (north gate) and Aswa Dwara (south gate)–plus a number of those subsidiary shrines in the primary temple complex.
“The encompassing of this temple has experienced enormous beautification work below the state administration’s Jagannath Heritage Corridor job.
The projected illumination project will improve the temple’s attractiveness and bring tourists,” explained Shyamsundar Mohapatra, a servitor mentioned.
It has to be mentioned that the ASI would shortly conduct 3D laser scan of this 12th century shrine because of its maintenance.
