Assam: 11 Arrested Because Spice Reversed on the Brahmaputra River

Jorthat: Eleven people, including drivers and owners of motorized rustic ships who sank on the Brahmaputra River on Wednesday afternoon at Neematighat here, was arrested on Sunday.
Of the total captured, seven people have been produced before a local court in Jorhat who sent him for Judicial custody, while the other four had been stored in police custody here to be interrogated.
Those sent to Jadotary Jadicular are Gautam Kalita, Dhanbar Das, Jaayanta Dutta, Jogen Das, Biju Kumar Das, Binud Barak and Babul Chandra Neog.
From them, Dhanbar Das is a ship driver.
The other six are employees of the inland water transportation department (IWT).
The fourth, which had been stored in police custody after being held from Majuli, was Pranjam Pamegam, Bipul Borah, Utpal Dutta and Gautam Kalita.
From them, Kalita is a ship owner, while the other three are IWT employees.
Jorhat-in-Charge police officer Chidananda Borp, who led the operation, told Toi: “We have arrested 11 people from Jorhat and Majuli in connection with the Nimatighat boat tragedy on Sundays.
Seven of them have been sent to resistency and four.
Others are saved In police custody to be interrogated.
They have been booked based on part 304 IPC.
