Assam: 110-year-old Kanjiikhowa Golf Course won the ‘Turf War’

Dibrugarh: Grass Golf Course Kanjijikhowa Century in Chabua in Dibrugarh Regency Assam Top can breathe a little easily now after planning with a major tea to turn it into a tea plantation stored after a discussion with the administration of Dibrugarh.
Founded in 1911, a golf course which is part of Kharjan Tea Estate is owned by APEJAY TEA, APEEJAY TEA COMPANY Surrendra Group.
In October 2019, the management of Kharjan Tea Estate made a decision to convert 9 hole golf courses, spread over 25 hectares, to tea plantations and began hijacking the field using a tractor.
Surprised and vibrating with the turn of the event, several state organizations, including the Assam Golf Association (UABA), launched a campaign to save the Heritage golf course.
The problem reached the ears of the minister of Sarbanou Sonowal’s chairman who directed the deputy commissioner to see this problem.
After doing so, Deputy Commissioner-Cum-Regency Magis Pallav Gopal Jha issued orders that prohibit the development of all types, hijack all forms, or do any activities that can destroy the current status of 190 BIGHA, 16 Katha and 6 Kanjiikhowa golf courses.
He also clamped the command of debt below the 144 CRPC section.
Finally, after 34 months, the training order was appointed from the Kanjihowa Golf Course during the meeting at the office in the Deputy Deputy Commissioner on August 9 chaired by the Deputy Commissioner and was attended by representatives of Kharjan Tea Estate, all Assam Tea Tribes Association of Students (Aatsa) and Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha (ACM).
“During the meeting unanimously decided that the historic Kanjikhowwa golf course would be preserved in its current form.
A committee has been formed consisting of representatives from the Assam Golf Association above, Kharjan Tea Estate, ACM and ATTSA.
The Committee will limit the boundaries of the golf course , Identify encroachment and take steps for the development of the golf course, “Jha said on Tuesday.
Welcoming Development, Secretary of Association Association of Assam (UAGA) Siddhartha Chalih said, “We are happy with the decision.
Kanjihowa golf course is one of the oldest golf courses in India and we must keep his inheritance alive.
Assam is identical to the tea garden and golf course.
There are many sentiments related to this golf course.
Many tourists visit this golf course to be played and soaked in rich history.
