Guwahati: A total of 27 employees, including an assistant General Manager, from Assam Power Districation Corporation (APDCL) was suspended on Wednesday for allegedly sucking RS 1.46 Crore since 2017 by forging medical reference certificates and replacement bills.
Last month, three pine was submitted to 41 officials, owned by a different government department, based on the complaints of Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).
Among 41 officials, 36 are APDCL employees, while others come from the Department of Basic Education, Finance and Health.
The source at APDCL said more employees were under the scanner.
“Most of them are found guilty of counterfeiting are Class III and Class IV employees.
More than Rs 1.46 Crore was sucked by at least 36 employees since 2017, where more than Rs 90.18 Lakh has recovered,” said the source.
The source added that APDCL has initiated an inquiry of department into anomalies.
“The medical replacement bill never reached the head of the General Manager (Human Resources) and Managing Editor of APDCL.
People at the SCAM must be the person in the APDCL.
False documents have been sent to forensics and the results are awaited,” added the source.
Inspector GMCH Abhijit Sarma said the defendant had falsified the signature of the state-level medical reference council.
The Board consists of five members of the GMC as chairman, GMCH supervisor as a member secretary and three other members.
This provides a reference certificate to government officials to undergo medical treatment outside the country.
On Tuesday, the police arrested the employee of the Ministry of Health, Ganesh Kalita, which was attached to Khanapara State Dispensary, because of forging the signature to get a medical reference certificate to re-register the bill.
Officers were responsible for the Bhangagarh police station Didjyoti Dadhara said more government officials tended to be in the police net immediately.
“Investigations are underway.
Kailta is currently in police custody for seven days.
