Guwahati: Assam Legislator Akhil Gogoi on Thursday went free after more than a half years in captivity as a special Nia Court cleared it from all charges under the UPA because of alleged role in anti-CAA state in the state in December 2019.
Gogoi, MLA independent of The constituency of Sivasagar, walked out of the Gahati Medical College and the hospital, where he was treated for various diseases, after the Nia Court specifically sent orders to release to Guwahati Central Prison.
“The truth finally won, even though there was no effort to be avoided to make me behind bars,” said Raijor Dal’s head to reporters after his release.
Gogoi said that after keeping his bag at home, he would visit the parents “Caa Martyr” Sam Stafford at their residence in the Hatgaon Guwahati region.
“From there, I will visit the Krishak Mukti Samram Samiti office and Raijor Dal today.
I left for Sivasagar my constituency tomorrow morning and thanked the people for choosing me when I was in prison,” he said.
Gogoi and his colleagues were accused of two cases under the violation of the law (prevention) acting on their alleged role in violence protests against the citizenship law (amendment) in Assam in December 2019.
The Nia Court has cleared everything from the allegations.
Two cases.
