Guwahati: Congress on Thursday accused the BJP of the Majuli people’s hood with false promises.
The government has promised them bridges that will save lives, but it does not appear.
In 2016, the Minister of Transportation and Highways Nitin Gadkari had laid the base of the bridge from Majuli that connected the Jorhat and Lakhimpur districts in the south and north.
In February this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the construction of the bridge, which was resisted by the opposition as a tactic to win the hearts of people on Riverine Island before the election of the Assembly.
The President of the State Congress Bhupen Borah has blamed the Government led by BJP because of the failure to complete the bridge five years after the foundation stone was placed.
“We have seen how the BJP government has made many election promises to the people of Majuli and Jorhat.
In 2016 Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation of the bridge.
Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said at that time the bridge came without a detailed project report,” Borah said at a press conference here on Thursday.
Assam PCC has demanded that the BJP government immediately pay Ex Gratia equal to Rs 25,00,000 to each family of victims of a neamatighat accident.
“I’ve never seen a central government like what is currently happening to the foundation of a stone lying down without preparing the DPR,” he said.
“The lessons were not studied from unfavorable vessels reversed in North Guwahati in September 2018.
The precautions should be taken by the BJP government throughout Assam after this incident was not seen when the ferry accident occurred,” Borah added.
“According to news reports, assistance from SDRF and NDRF takes one hour to reach the disaster site.
During the flood season, is it not mandatory for the River Transport Authority to monitor water transportation activities? Does Neamatighat and Majuli have a river police station?” Borah wondered .
The Roll On Roll Off (RO) service was inaugurated at that time the head of Sarbanou’s Sonowal minister in Kamalabari Ghat on October 11, 2018.
