Assam Cabinet Approved the sale of liquor online in Guwahati

Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet on Wednesday took several major decisions, including the approval of selling liquor through the online platform in the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) area in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“During Covid time, we have looked in a hurry in front of a liquor store at night or at closure.
Shows respect for the Supreme Court and the Takeaway Madras High Court order in this case, our cabinet has given approval to sell liquor online , “said the Keshab Mahanta Cabinet Minister at a press conference.
He said the plan for one month and online sales would be an experiment at first.
“Only if it works without problems, it will continue,” he said.
Formal government notification will soon be published, said Manganta, adding that detailed guidelines will be completed by the State Excise Ministry.
“Our cabinet, on the principle has decided to give approval for the sale of liquor online,” he added.
The Cabinet also decided to combine the Guwahati Development Department and the Urban Development Department to establish a housing department and affairs in the union ministry with the same nomenclature.
This, said Manganta, will assist in a fluent flow of funds from the urban development center.
In the transfer of other unification, the Department of General Administration (GAD) and the Administrative Department of the Secretariat will now be known as GAD.
The Country Cabinet chaired by Himanta’s head minister Buswa Sarma also made a decision to provide assistance to tea park workers under Mgnrega during the winter, when most of their work had little work.
“During the winter, tea park workers will be brought based on work schemes guaranteed as part of MGNREGA.
The road can be built, ponds can be excavated or other jobs that can be done according to the needs in the tea garden,” Manganta said.
He said the decision was taken to prioritize digging ponds in villages also below Mgnrega, which will also include agarwood plantations, sandalwood, and other valuable trees to strengthen the rural economy.
The Guardian ministers from the district, officer and official of the block of blocks concerned will plan it so that the scheme is in accordance with the needs of the local environment, said Manganta.
He said the cabinet had gave a nod to develop a school building, the stream of Kendawadi and built a park in the villages with a financial ration under the 15th Finance Commission.
The Assam research institute for tribal caste and scheduled will be activated to start research on tribal problems and scale sc.
Golaghat and Sarupathar Circles on Assam have been declared by drought and the minister’s chairman has instructed the Minister of Income Jogen Mahan and Minister of Irrigation Ashok Singhal to visit those areas.
Manganta said together with the Minister of Finance of State, Minister of Revenue and Irrigation will assess the land situation and recommend assistance according to disaster management efforts.
In addition, the 100-year-old chief justice chairman on the edge of the Brahmaputra in Guwahati has been declared a legacy building, which will get a facelift and be preserved.
“The chairman of justice will continue to live in the current building but in the future we will preserve it as a legacy building,” said Manganta.
