Assam: Center OKS RS 3,000 Crore Crore Project for 8th Bridge over the Brahmaputra River

Guwahati: Minister of Finance Union Nirmala Sitharaman on Thursday announced the central approval of the project (EAP) more than Rs 3,000 Crore (EAP) to build the eighth bridge on the Brahmaputra near Guwahati and also featured the ‘Bhoyomi Pake’ for the hospital.
2,200 Crore for the Hydel 120-MW project in the district of Dima Haso Assam.
During a daily visit to the state, Sitharaman also laid the basis of improvement and increased work from the road 90-km from Haflong Tiala to reduce Haflong with an estimated cost of Rs 900 Crore to be applied under the Assam ADB road network repair project (ARNIP).
In his last involvement, he launched Assam’s right to a public service portal.
Head of Minister Assam Himanta Buswa Sarma said this portal was a forward path for electronic shipments to be told to people.
“Our government is committed to presenting rapid, effective and resilient reforms in governance together with the world that changes rapidly,” he added.
The new bridge over Brahmaputra assisted by a new development bank (NDB) will be 3 km long and and four lanes.
“The bridge will reduce the city of Guwahati and increase transportation efficiency, thereby reducing travel time for daily commuters from the district side by side in Nalbari and Barpeta traveling to Guwahati.
This project will help reduce river bank erosion in Sualkuchi and Palasbari and bring increased transportation efficiency Economy Assam, “he tweeted.
Sitharaman arrived at Guwahati in the morning from where she flew to Dima Hawao accompanied by Minister of Himanta Buswa Sarma for the ‘Bhoomomi Pusan’ project from Assam Power Generation Corporation Limited 120-MW Lower Project in LongKu in the Dima Haggu District, which is assisted by the Asian Development Bank And scheduled to be completed on June 2024.
Sitharaman, in his speech in LongKu in the district, said, “The center will bear 77% (Rs 1,700 Crore) of the project fee and a 23% break (RS 500 Crore) will be borne by the Government of Assam.” This Run-of-the-River project Over the Kopili River will help increase the electricity supplied from clean energy by 469 Gigawatts hours (GWH) in 2025 and reduce greenhouse gas emissions of 360,000 tons of carbon dioxide every year.
Then in the afternoon, Sitharaman and Sarma conducted a shared inspection of the progress of the extra extra construction of construction under the construction of Brahmaputra which connected Guwahati and North Guwahati near Sonaram School Field in the city.
This 8.4 km bridge, which will be the seventh over Brahmaputra in the state and third in the city funded by the new development bank, will be the first of its kind in the northeast and is being implemented by the state PWD.

It is expected to be completed in August 2023.
