Guwahati: The Secondary Education Council of Assam on Thursday announced it reduced the syllabus for all subjects in class 9 and 10 for the 2021-22 academic session.
According to the notification by the secondary education council, Assam (SEMA), “the curriculum of each course and each subject has been reduced by around 40 percent compared to the 2019 academic session for the convenience of 9 and 10 students’ examinations in the academic session of 2021-2022.”
The Board in a statement said: “It has been noted that there is a fairly large academic loss and will be difficult for students and teachers to cover the curriculum of the course prescribed by the Secondary Education Council, Assam for academics in 2021-2022.”

Given the Covid-19 pandemic, educational institutions in the state closed from the third week of April 2021.
All schools do online classes and most students cannot attend classes for various reasons, the council’s state education says in a statement.
“There have been quite large academic losses and will be difficult for students and teachers to cover the curriculum of the course,” the statement added.
According to notice, the revised course curriculum will be given in PDF format to all schools.
The revised syllabus will also be available on the website seba i.e., www.sebaonline.org.
However, the Board asked the teacher to teach the entire syllabus if possible so that students can have sufficient knowledge about their entire courses.
