Guwahati: The Assam Congress issued a march protest to Raj Bhavan here on Saturday, as allegedly spying on illegal through Spyware Pegasus.
In accordance with the call given by the Congress Committee throughout India for the national protest stage, PCC Assam issued a general meeting with a call to institutionalize the judicial investigation monitored by the Supreme Court for the alleged scandal.
PCC President Assam who came out and Rajya Sabha MP, Ripun Bora, said the alleged tapet-tapping even beyond the watergate scandal and accused the mod to violate the privacy of society illegally.
“Spyware Pegasus has been sold to the Government, not for private companies.
It has been obtained from Israeli companies by 48 countries and India is one of them.
It is clear that the modth of the mod behind a scandal in India,” said Bora.
He accused that instead of using spyware to overcome external threats and terrorist activities, it was used to steal information from opposition leaders.
“It’s harmful to democracy,” Bora said.
Congress demanded the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Minister of Houses Uni Amit Shah.
Opposition leader, Debabrata Saikia, accused the government to tighten snares in civilians in a free country.
“The government has adopted an escapist attitude and still denies the telephone tapping scandal.
When our parliamentarians protested in parliament, the government did not clarify this problem,” said Saikia.
In a memorandum to the President of India through Governor Assam, Congress alleged that more than 300 Indian telephone numbers targeted to supervise using the Israeli spyware.
The opposition claims that these figures belong to opposition leaders, constitutional authorities, journalists, trade union ministers, foreign ambassadors and high commissioners and former security service officials.
“Most of these figures are targeted between 2018 and 2019 in the selection of Lok Sabha.
Among the opposition leaders, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi and his staff, Congress Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee, Kishor election strategist targeted by spyware.” Read memorandum.
While Chairman of Himanta Minister Buswa Sarma urged the center to ban Amnesty International activities in India, Congress said that “Hacking evidence was confirmed by Amnesty International Lab”, which conducted forensic analysis of targeted telephone samples and these findings “independent verified” by the Laboratory of Residents at the University Toronto.
“Of the 67 telephone checks, 23 has been successfully hacked and 14 shows hacking efforts.
Amnesty International has also fully published its forensic methodology,” said Memorandum.
