GUWAHATI: The Congress in Assam suffered a major blow on Friday because its most outspoken leader and four period legislator, Rupjyoti Kurmi, stopped the party and announced he would unite the BJP on Monday.
In addition, he resigned from his membership in the legislative meeting.
Kurmi, that has been representing the Mariani legislative constituency in upper Assam’s Jorhat district because 2006, stated he had been created a Congressman but also has made a decision to give up the party just’due to unfair decisions accepted by the party direction’.
He, a powerful leader in the tea leader neighborhood, alleged that the Congress direction doesn’t listen to the voices of both communities and party employees.
“The celebration is suffering due to unsuccessful leaders.
There are leaders, so I don’t need to name them today, who do not want and won’t permit other people to rise.
Because of incorrect leadership, the celebration played in upper Assam at the last assembly election,” he further added.
Congress won five from the 34 seats in upper Assam from the meeting election this season.
Senior Congress leader and CLP leader at the meeting, Debabrata Saikia, gained in Nazira, Sushanta Borgohain out of Thowra, Bharat Chandra Narah out of Naoboicha, Bhaskar Jyoti Baruah by Titabor and Kurmi out of Mariani.
Following Kurmi’s death from the celebration, Congress’s power will return to only four at upper Assam.
The celebration couldn’t keep Sarupathar, Golaghat and Doom Dooma this particular election.
It can be noted that fund minister Ajanta Neog, that served the Congress party for decades, quit before this election and fought the battle of ballots to a BJP ticket in the Golaghat constituency and won.
The tea buckle at upper Assam has ever been a substantial element in Assam politics.
The BJP, that got 22 chairs in the 2016 assembly electionwon 27 out of 37 seats in the java belt.
Kurmi’s change has been considered a major achievement for the BJP, which is continuously focusing in the tea buckle.
“The celebration has functioned on the uplift of this tea tribe neighborhood out of its very first term from the authorities.
Individuals from the tea belt reasoned the BJP again due to the inclusive development job it’s done in the past five decades.
The Congress has lost yet another powerful manhood from upper Assam.
His linking is a benefit for BJP,” explained Rupam Goswami, say BJP spokesperson.
