Guwahati: The opposition Congress at Assam will get the president of his new country this week, a senior leader said on Tuesday, almost two months after Ripun Bora resigned from the position, having a responsibility for the election of the parade assembly.
Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) Secretary General of Apurba Kumar Bhattacharjee, when asked about the delay in the mining of his new president, said the party, after suffering two defeats in the assembly poll, need to find “vocal and assertive leaders”.
“The President of the New Assam Congress will be named after this week.
The current central leadership views the view of the official in this matter,” Bhattacharjee said.
He further said that some leaders were able to assume responsibility, but the command of the high party would ensure that the most “acceptable” candidate was appointed.
“We lost the battle (assembly selection) for the second time.
We cannot achieve our goals.
The party wants a vocal and firm leader at this time.
There are many leaders who are able to take this responsibility.
High command will ensure that the most acceptable candidate is designated After considering all the factors needed, “Bhattacharjee added.
Meanwhile, the sources of the party said that several names have conducted a round in the state unit, but Lok Sabha MP Pradyut Bordoloi and all Indian Congress Committee (AICC) Secretary General of Bhupen Bora has emerged as two top competitors for the post.
