Assam: Criminal Escape from Covid Ward Hospital Lakhimpur

Guwahati: A criminal arrested by the police after he suffered a bullet injury during the meeting in the Lakhimpur District last year fled the Covid Care Ward at the early Lakhimpur Medical College Hospital (LMCH) on Saturday.
Raju Barua (46), a resident of Dhakuakhana in Lakhimpur Regency, was very positive when he escaped from the Covid ward, a hospital spokesman, said Dr.
Nikhil Kakati, told Toi.
Police said the defendant managed to escape by utilizing less security around the Covid ward in the hospital.
Active search to catch the culprit.
A police official said Raju was accused of several cases, including rape.
Kakati said the defendant was taken to the Medical College (Amch) Hospital on Friday for treatment at the Urology Department but was found covid-positive there.
In the end, he was taken to LMCH for Covid care.
Raju was reported to have undergone surgery at Amch after defending last year’s bullet injury.
“He was treated at LMCH at 5.40 a night on Friday.
Around 9pm, the defendant was in the Covid ward when our doctor went there for a patient’s health check.
Maybe, he escaped after midnight,” said Kakati.
The doctor said the defendant was not a handcuff when undergoing treatment at LMCH, and that he did not show symptoms.
