Assam Govt Cancel Special Board Exams

Guwahati: The Assam government on Thursday canceled the proposed Special Council exam which was proposed for students who were dissatisfied with the evaluation formula presented by two high-powered committees for the X and XII class council exams.

Special examination is proposed especially for students who aspire to appear in the recruitment exam under the state government where substantial weight comes from class X and XII performance.
According to the previous government view, the original advantages of students cannot be assessed without written checks.
However, the idea was opposed loudly by various student organizations, including all Assam Students (Aasu).
Finally, a crucial meeting under the leadership of CM Himanta Buswa Sarma on Thursday decided to test a special board test scheduled for tentatively held on September 15.
“There will be no special council exam this year in Assam.

Sarma held a meeting with Aasu representatives, all Bodo Student Unions (ABSU), and Asom Jatyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) to discuss alternative evaluation methods required by the cancellation of the HSLC and HS exams for Covid -19 Pandemi.
The meeting, held in Janata Bhawan here, was also attended by Puru, Minister of Finance Ajanta Neog and Handloom and Textile Minister UG Brahma.
“After detailed discussions, consensus was reached about alternative evaluation methods,” said Government Liberation.
Furthermore, it adds that the certificate and mark provided under the evaluation formula will apply in applying for higher education and work.
However, the meeting also decided that the equivalent test or equalize could be held for teacher recruitment in schools and colleges if deemed necessary.
This will apply to all students from the Secondary Education Council, Assam (SEMA), Assam (AHSEC) secondary education council, and the education council and other education councils.
In addition, it is also decided that there will be no ranking system rankings in the HSLC and HS exams under the new formula and only the differences and stars will be given.
Sarma is also directed at holding a class IX examination under Seba starting now.
The exam that will be carried out by the District Education Board will have a question paper similar for all district schools.
He instructed to ensure the availability of test results data and students appeared in examination with Seba.
AASU’s Head of Advisory, Samujjal Kumar Bhattacharyya, Prakash Das Advisor, President Dipanka Kumar Nath, Secretary General of Sankar Jyoti Baru, President Absu Dipen Bodo, President Ajikp Rana Pratap Baru and Secretary General of Palash Changmai was also at the meeting.
