Diphu / Guwahati: The police confiscated 412 kilograms of heroin, estimated to be rated by 3.5 crore in the international market, and arrested two people in the Karbi District of Anglong Assam on Monday because it had contraband goods, an official said.
Acting on information, the police stopped the vehicles coming from Manipur at the Laharajan checkpoint under the Bokajan police station and seized the drug hidden in 30 soapboards.
Two vehicle residents, who took heroin to Guwahati from Manipur, were arrested, said the official.
In another incident, three people were arrested from Guwahati on charges of carrying Bethel’s beans illegally from Meghalaya to Barpeta in Assam.
The police also confiscated their vehicle loaded with betel nuts in Garchuk in Guwahati.
