Guwahati: Supervision of caste-based students during scholars in Assam has surprised the academics and brotherhood of students.
At least three colleges managed by the government, all in Guwahati, asked students to mention their caste.
The option is required to be filled by candidates in the caste section, Brahmana, Ganak (Division Brahmana Assam, who practiced astrology), Kalita, Kayastha, Shudra and Baishya.
Although state governments try to wash their hands from efforts to classify students according to Castes, colleges have arrived under the body of students.
“We cannot interfere in college functions.
The Directorate did not ask them to collect caste data,” said Director of Assam Higher Education, Dharma Kanta Mili, on Thursday.

In Handique Girls’ College (HGC), one of the leading higher education institutions in the state, the submission of the online receipt form began last week and a large number of students had registered, provided details of the caste and their community.
There is no government approval to force students to express their caste and community.
Principal HGC did not respond to repetitive telephone calls from TOI but the source in the college administration blamed the personal IT service provider for ‘goof-up’.
“There must be a system to identify students from the ordered categories such as SC, ST or OBC.
But we are not aware that students are asked on the entry portal to reveal their caste.
The college authority can immediately drop this part,” the official said.
Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia College (KHSC), another City College, who also asked students to express their caste, was in the dilemma.
“We don’t even keep the religious records of the students leave the caste themselves.
We must know this morning that students are asked to check their caste.
The IT company concerned has been asked to immediately drop this option,” said Chikshamoni Konwar’s Principal.
He said his studies were sensitive to the privacy of the students.
“There are no instructions from the government to record the caste and religion of students,” he added.

Ltd., IT companies driven by three colleges in which caste registration is detected, say they want to help universities by determining caste and community related communities.
However, KK Gogoi software developers, a company spokesman, told Ti that they had decided to drop the caste option after the college filed an objection.
“We want to be more specific.
If a student comes from the general category, the information related to the cashier will make their identity more clear,” Gogoi said.
Arya Vidyapeth College, a Premier Institute of High Learning in Assam, also reported mandatory caste information section for students in the form.
The student student federation is the first to attract everyone to the problem on Wednesday.
The Secretary of the State Unit of SFI, Nirangkush Nath, said this initiative might be part of the BJP-led government design to promote the cashier in academic institutions.
“Some students don’t realize their caste when our volunteers help them fill out form online.
Haven’t we had before we had to express our caste while filling out the form,” he said.
He added that the government was clear about this problem, no college would dare to ask students to express their caste.
“We detected it in three colleges.
Other colleies must have done it.
There are several reports that have not been confirmed about caste-based identification in Assam Regency on top of Golaghat too,” said Nath.
