Assam Lifts daily Salary of tea garden workers by 38

GUWAHATI: Assam on Friday enhanced the daily salary of tea workers by Rs 38 following consulting employees’ unions and backyard managements.
Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday held a meeting with representatives of Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha and additional tea bodies also talked about issues pertaining to wage fixation.
“The assembly chose to increase the daily percentage of tea employees by Rs 38.
For this, the java employees in the Brahmaputra Valley could get Rs 205 by the current Rs 167 and tea people from the Barak Valley could get Rs 183 in the present Rs 145,” a statement by the chief minister’s office stated.
The present daily wage is 167 in money.
Tea garden employees desired the daily commission to be improved to Rs 351 from Rs 137 according to the guarantee BJP had produced through campaigning in the 2016 assembly election.
However, later forming the government, it climbed the commission by just Rs 30 per cent 167 daily.
