Assam, Manipur Offset Class X, XII board Examinations amid Covid shadow

GUWAHATI/IMPHAL/AGARTALA: In light of this Covid-19 pandemic, both Assam and Manipur on Friday cancelled that years Secondary (Class X) and Higher Secondary (Class XII) board assessments.
Meanwhile, the Tripura Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath stated that consultations with the stakeholders are to decide about holding the Secondary and Higher Secondary assessments in the nation.

He explained that after talking with the stakeholders, the education department has decided not to run the examinations that year.
The minister stated two committees would be set up to determine the marking and test patterns along with the final outcome would be announced from July 31.
Before, the Assam Cabinet led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had recommended not holding that the examinations.
Before this month, the Pegu had informed the press the High School Leaving Certification (HSLC or Course X) and the Higher Secondary (Class XII) examinations are most likely to be held between August 1 and August 15 with decreased variety of topics in the event the pandemic scenario improved.
The HSLC tests are conducted by the Board of Secondary Instruction Assam (SEBA), although the Greater Secondary tests are held from the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).

On June 1, the Centre had cancelled the Class XII boards examinations of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for 2021.
Following the government’s conclusion, the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) had fought the ISC Class XII examinations for this season.
