Assam now prefers free shipping from liquor, study words

Guwahati: A study has revealed that more than 70 percent of alcoholic consumers in Assam now prefer to have liquor delivered.
Surveys, “Consumer Credit at Home Shipping Liquor”, carried out by the International Spirit and the Indian Wine Association (ISWAI).
On July 20, the Government Assam allowed delivery of alcohol in Guwahati, given the pandemic of Covid-19, to prevent density outside the shops and consumption of illegal liquor.
Until now, at all 164 online orders have been successfully delivered in Assam.
The CEO of Iswai Nita Kapoor told TII that the survey reaffirmed increased demand for home delivery, because the country continued to fight Pandemic Covid-19.
“This pandemic has had an impact on all sectors, including alcoholic beverage industry.
However, every crisis also provides an opportunity to re-assess, rediscover and explore new ways that benefit stakeholders.
Our survey aims to understand consumer attitudes and preferences in connection Alco-Bev’s home delivery and work with various state governments, including Assam, to bridge the gap to meet consumer demand, “he said.
Kapoor claims that the policy will also “increase livelihood opportunities and open alternative channel potential to contribute to state revenues”.
“We praised the Assam government about the introduction of home delivery in Guwahati and urged them to continue such progressive regulations, providing a safe and comfortable alternative,” he added.
This study highlights that the convenience and maintenance of social distance is the main factor behind the consumer consumer preferences of Assam alcoholic drinks for home delivery services.
In fact, 67 percent of consumers surveyed said they would use home delivery services for distance or social safety, while 33 percent would use it for convenience due to buying from retail stores.
