Assam: Peddler medicine tried to escape, injured in police shots

Guwahati: Drug traders suspected of being injured in police shots when he allegedly tried to escape from detention in Karbi Anglong Regency on Monday.
The police have restored Heroin worth Rs 20 Crore from the ownership of the defendant.
Acting on the tip-off, the police team intercepted the truck at around 1:30 a.m.
at the checkpoint in the Bokajan area under the Khatkhati police station and arrested two people, including drug smugglers, along with 1.6 kg of heroin.
The truck comes from Manipur.
During the probe preliminary, the defendant acknowledged that they had planned to provide smuggled goods to the nearest area, said a police officer said.
The officer added, “When they were taken to the delivery point, one of the drug vendors complained of discomfort and taken out of the vehicle.
He tried to escape from there and the personnel was fired, aiming for his feet.”
