Guwahati: Towards Diwali, the Polution Control Agency Assam (PCB) has imposed a complete ban to explode and sell all types of firecrackers, except green, in the state.
In accordance with the directives of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the order will remain valid until further notice to curb air pollution during the celebration season.
The Chairman of PCB Arup Kumar Misra told TII that the state pollution body had also written to all representatives of the state police commissioners and applying instructions.
PCB also asked the state police to take action to stop cracker supplies.
“Those who store illegal firecrackers must be arrested.
Onus is in the police and government to ensure that the use of firecrackers is arrested, because PCBs only issue advisors and directions.
The report taken every day must also be submitted to the PCB,” added Misra.
However, people can break green crackers for two hours at the god.
Every year, night Diwali pushes air around the city to a dangerous level, taking the level of winter pollution to its peak.
