Guwahati: Head of Assam Minister Himanta Buswa Sarma on Saturday said that five universities in this country will soon be upgraded to universities in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
He said that the main decision regarding the implementation of the timely NEP in the state will be taken At the next weekly cabinet meeting.
“Nep requires a stand-alone university.
We have three autonomous colleges now, JB (in Jorhat), Lakhimpur and Nagaon Colleges.
It will be made to become a university,” Sarma said on the sidelines of the premiere session in the north two days.

“In addition to all three, we will increase the Siesagar College and Handlique Girls College (in Guwahati) to the university,” he said.

The minister’s chairman said that in the next state cabinet meeting, scheduled for November 25, the structure for educational institutions under the NEP will be approved, determine which institution will be for the basic, primary or senior level.
Previously, speaking at the Conclary, Sarma said that the NEP 2020 had given students the opportunity to surpass Marksheets to fight for knowledge.
