Assam to spread 3 command battalions on the border of Mizoram: CM HIMANTA BUSWA SARMA

New Delhi: Minister of Chief Assam Himanta Buswa Sarma said on Tuesday that the state government would approach the Supreme Court to protect the innerine forest reserves of destruction and encroachment, following the border dispute with Mizoram.
The minister’s chairman insists that not one inch of Assam land can be bound by neighboring countries.
“People have sacrificed their lives but the limits have been protected that we will continue with any cost,” he told reporters in Silchar while talking about the clashes dead Monday.
At least six people were killed and 60 others, including SP, was injured in a bloody clash between police forces from two states along the Assam-Mizoram border on Monday.
“Satellite images have shown that roads are being built and the forest is cleaned for or not allowed cultivation.
We will move the Supreme Court to ensure that the forest is protected,” he said.
Sarma said Assam would deploy three commando battalions in Cachar, Karimanj, Hailakandi Regency which borders Mizoram.
“Disputes are not about land, it’s about forest.
Assam wants to protect the forest.
It does not organize settlements in the forest area, we do not want to settle there,” Sarma added.
“This is not a political problem.
This is a limit dispute between two countries.
This is an old border dispute.
There is a dispute even when the Congress government is on both sides.
This is a dispute between two countries, not between two political parties,” Sarma said.
The situation of the border of Assam-Mizoram on the border of Assam-Mizoram remained tense because Assam expressed a three-day sorrow from Tuesday to mark the death of five police officers and one civilian citizen in the border clashes last night, while the local population threatened an economic blockade from neighboring Mizoram.
During a three-day mourning period, the national flag will fly with half a pole and there will be no public entertainment, notifications issued by the Assam government.
Home Unit minister Amit Shah, who has last week held a conference with the main ministers of the North Eastern countries in an effort to resolve the thorny border dispute between the night, spoke to the head of Minister of Assam and Mizoram, respectively, Himanta Buswa Sarma and Zoramthanga, And urge them to ensure peace along the border disputed and find peaceful settlement.
Previously in May this year, shooting at the Nagaland-Assam border both raises tension.
However, there are no deaths or injuries that occur.
Sarma paid to try the flowers to five police officers killed in Silchar on Tuesday.
“We are very sad to lose the lives of police personnel @Assam we are brave.
I visited the Silchar SP office and paid flower tribute to five martyrs and salut their sacrifices,” he tweeted.
Previously on that day, the minister’s chairman visited the Silchar medical college and met with police personnel who were injured in the attack.
Assam-Mizoram’s tensions along the border with Mizoram in Cachar and Hailakandi District from Assam have increased since 2020 October with the frequent incident of burning houses and allegations of land encroachment by both parties.
On October 22, 2020, high-level talks were held under the AEGIS Ministry of the UNI home where it was decided to maintain the status-quo and resolve disputes through discussion.
Tension flared again in February and since then people have fled their homes near the Gallacherra post door after two huts on fire.
After a few months pause, a grenade was thrown on the Assam government team who visited the border by unknown strikers from Mizoram on July 10, while two back-to-back explosions were heard from across the border on July 11 on July 11.
A high-level meeting between officials of the two countries, including the Head of Secretary and DGPS, was also held in New Delhi earlier this month, about this issue to sort out disputes.
Mizoram is Assam District before being carved as a separate union area in 1971 after years of rebellion and district border not too important.
The border problems are cut after that as perceptions where the limit must be different.
While Mizoram wanted to be along the internal line which was notified in 1875, which was felt by the Mizo tribe was part of their historical homeland, Assam wanted to be limited according to the district demarcation carried out far later.
Both states shared the border of 164.6 km between Cachar Assam District, Hailakandi and Karimganj, and Mizoram Regency, Mamit and Aizawl Regency.
