Guwahati: Two officials of the Panciran & Rural Development Department, who were arrested on Sundays for allegedly sucking government funds of almost Rs 53 Lakh, was suspended on Wednesday.
The funds are allocated for the development of the area in the lower Dhubri District of Assam.
Officials accused of being identified as Block Development Officers (BDO) Khabir Uddin Ahmed and accountant blocks for developing Gauripur Islamic.
Ahmed and Islam allegedly sucked RS 52.72 lakh along with two engineers, Saddam Hussain and Abdullah Ali Masud Mollah, and a contractor Jahidul Hoque.
Hussain and Molelah were arrested on August 26 from a remote location in West Bengal regarding this case.
Based on the complaint of the executive official Dhubri Zila Parishad, Anesh Talukdar, a FIR was submitted at the Dhubri police station aware against the defendant on July 8.
“Hoque escaped.
The police tried to arrest him as soon as possible,” said Parha Pratim Gogoi, officers were responsible for the Dhubri police station conscious.
