Assam: Ulfa-I Linkman About Errand Extortion Shot in Leg by Police

Dibrugarh: Alleged Overground Operation Ulfa (Independent) was shot at the foot by the police when he was on his way to collect squeeze from a tea factory in the District Naharkatia area in Thursday morning.

Police said Deka had been arrested beforehand on a connection with extortion cases.
Inspector Dibrugarh Police Shwetank Mishra said, “The Ulfa-I Linkman has presented the separation of RS 20 Lakh records to the Sarda Tea Factory on July 12.
He has served extortion records to two other tea producers – Dhapi Tea Company and Ullah Tea – Demand Rs 20 Lakh From each of them.
We got information that he would arrive at Sarda Tea Factory on Thursday to collect the amount of extortion.
We mobilized a police team near the factory to arrest him.
Around 7 in the morning, Deka arrived on a motorcycle and saw the team The police tried to escape towards the forest.
The police had to open fire to stop it.
He was beaten at the foot during the burning after he was arrested.
In 2012 he was arrested by the police in the same extortion case.
