Assam: ‘won’t let one inch of land intercus

Guwahati: Minister of Assam Parimal Suklabaidya, after visiting the area near the Pradesh Assam-Arunachal border following the forest encroachment and destruction report, on Sunday said: “No-inch of forest land will be permitted to be adopted by neighboring countries and also.

In particular, Assam has a border problem with Arunachal Pradesh.
The Assam government has tried to resolve the border dispute with Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Mizoram, the Minister said.
“The Government Assam not only strives to bring permanent solutions to border disputes with our neighboring countries at the highest level but also explore ways to find solutions by coming out of the court’s settlement,” he added.
The minister asked officials to conduct evictions from the Pobha Reserve forest with the help of civil administration and police.
The total area under five reserve forests is 31,096.55 hectares.
Officials also told the Minister to 3,390 applications received for completion on the forest land under FRA, 2,743 was rejected while 647 was being reviewed.
Suklabaidya told the officials to speed up the process of reviewing the application.
Reviewing the Department of Fisheries scheme, Suklabaidya asked the department to increase fish production by ensuring the optimal use of broad water resources from the district.
